Justin Parker

Dr. Justin Parker, Ph.D. received his masters and Ph.D. in School Psychology from North Carolina State University. Prior to joining 3-C Family Services in February of 2010 as a therapist for children and families, he completed a pre-doctoral internship at the Duke Child and Family Studies Center, and has also worked in the Wake County Public School System in North Carolina. Dr. Parker has worked extensively with parents, children, and adolescents in a variety of settings, typically focusing on helping families reach tangible goals by improving communication and increasing empathy between family members. His personable, straight-forward style conveys the message to adults, adolescents, and children alike that he is working with them so that they achieve the best possible outcome. Therefore, he is equally comfortable working with children/adolescents as a Child Specialist and with parents as a Co-Parenting Advisor on the Families in Transition (FIT) Team.

In addition to his work with the FIT Team, Dr. Parker is actively involved in research with the sister company of 3-C Family Services, the 3-C Institute for Social Development. His recent research has focused on emotional intelligence and communication, with the primary goal of helping children be better able to identify how they are feeling and to communicate effectively with others about their feelings. This ongoing research has provided him with the opportunity to work with hundreds of children and families, and allowed him to observe how powerful and liberating communication skills can be for families. It has also given him great perspective on the many tools that parents and their children need in order to effectively communicate. Sharing these tools with families and observing the positive outcomes is truly an honor for him.

Originally from upstate New York, Dr. Parker has lived in the Triangle area since 2002. He and his wife have two children (twins!). He is an avid golfer who enjoys theater, sports, and most importantly spending time with family and friends.
