Mediation is a process in which spouses have the discussions about what will go into their Separation Agreement (parenting arrangements, division of marital property, support, etc.) with the help of a skilled, neutral mediator. The mediator will not provide legal advice. Attorneys are required to draft the legal documents required for a legal separation and divorce. Often attorneys experienced in collaborative law proceedings are selected for this purpose because of some of the similarities between collaborative law proceedings and mediation.
